Mumbai Police has taken legal action against a woman for reportedly perpetrating an acid attack on a dog, on Friday. The occurrence unfolded within the confines of Malad Malvani area in the city.
The stray canine, named Brownie, endured severe burn wounds after the woman purportedly administered acid on him, allegedly in response to the dog’s perceived interference with the cats she regularly cared for within the premises.
Footage from closed-circuit television cameras has shown the woman’s approach towards the slumbering canine and flinging of the acid. The dog, following the acid-inflicted assault, lost one of its eyes. The video shows the dog’s frenzied sprint after the incident.
Later in the evening, the dog was discovered by Balasaheb Tukaram, the caretaker, and promptly conveyed to a nearby veterinary facility for immediate medical attention.
Police authorities have confirmed the registration of a legal case against the implicated woman, invoking the pertinent section of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The police statement reads, “The accused woman has been formally charged under IPC section 429, section 11 (1), and section 119 of the Maharashtra Police Act.”
