In a gripping match that kept spectators on the edge of their seats, Betalbatim Sporting Club clinched a hard-fought victory against Ambelim Sports Club, securing their place in the quarter-finals of the prestigious 32nd Curtorim Panchayat Cup. The match, which ended in a goalless draw after regular time, was ultimately decided by a nerve-wracking penalty shootout that saw Betalbatim emerge victorious with a 6-5 scoreline.

A Tale of Two Halves

Both teams started the first half of the match cautiously, intent on feeling each other out. As the game progressed, Ambelim’s Nial came close to breaking the deadlock with a powerful left-footed shot that narrowly missed, grazing the woodwork before going out of play. Despite this close call, the first half concluded without any goals on the scoreboard.

The second half saw a shift in momentum as Betalbatim adopted a more aggressive stance. Their striker, Gladston, found himself in a prime position to score but surprisingly missed what observers described as an “easy sitter.” The team continued to press forward, with Keith creating another opportunity to take the lead, but his effort sailed wide of the mark.
