The National Committee of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has dissolved its Goa State Committee with immediate effect. The decision, announced on Wednesday, comes as a surprise to many political observers in the coastal state.
According to a statement released by NSUI National Secretary and Goa In-charge Bharatth Raam Gowda, the dissolution affects all existing committees and respective officers of NSUI Goa. However, there is one notable exception to this sweeping change – State President Naushad Chowdhari will retain his position.
Gowda elaborated on the decision, stating, “This is to inform that all existing committees and respective officers of NSUI Goa stands dissolved as of today with the exception of the State President appointed by the national leadership.”
The retention of Naushad Chowdhari as State President suggests a vote of confidence in his leadership amidst the broader restructuring.
Chowdhari’s journey to the top position in NSUI Goa has been noteworthy. He was appointed as the State President by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in 2021, following his tenure as the North Goa President of NSUI. Chowdhari’s appointment came after a changing of the guard, as he replaced Ahraz Mulla, who had served as NSUI Goa President for an impressive six-year term from 2015 to 2021.
On the future structure of the organization in Goa, Gowda added, “Fresh office bearers of State Committee, district committees, college committee and university committee will be selected and formed and the same will be communicated via further notification.”
