Benaulim, steeped in Goa’s storied footballing heritage is preparing to host a unique celebration of sport and solidarity. On May 10 and 11, Benaulim will welcome seasoned athletes from across the continent for the 3rd Asian Veterans Football Championship.
Organised by Benaulim Veterans in partnership with Goa Veterans and the Asian Veterans Football Club, the tournament was officially announced at a press conference held at the Panchayat hall in Benaulim.
The championship will feature teams from Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia, competing alongside veteran squads from Chennai, Puducherry, Bangalore, Kerala, and host state Goa. The format will include league-stage matches followed by knockout rounds, promising an exciting mix of competition and camaraderie.
“This tournament is more than just football—it’s about rekindling the spirit of the game and building bridges across cultures,” organisers said. With players returning to the field years after their prime, the event aims to highlight the enduring passion and legacy of football across Asia.
