Paroda Secures Quarter-Final Spot with 6-4 Victory over Raia

In a thrilling match at the 32nd Curtorim Panchayat Cup, Fr. Agnelo Youth Sports Club Paroda emerged victorious against Raia Sporting Club with a final score of 6-4. The high-scoring game secured Paroda’s place in the quarter-finals of the tournament, which is being organized by Curtorim Gymkhana.

The match began with both teams displaying impressive football skills. Paroda broke the deadlock in the 10th minute when Melson’s powerful shot deflected off a Raia defender and found the back of the net. Joy Fernandes doubled Paroda’s lead, capitalizing on being unmarked to tap the ball home. Just before halftime, Dranzil extended Paroda’s lead to 3-0 with a long-range grounder that caught the Raia goalkeeper off guard.

The second half saw an explosion of goals from both sides. Salvin Fernandes netted Paroda’s fourth, followed quickly by Melson’s second goal of the match, bringing the score to 5-0. Raia, however, refused to go down without a fight. Their striker, Oilex Oliveira, struck back with two goals in quick succession, narrowing the gap to 5-2.

Paroda responded through Joy Fernandes, who completed his brace and extended their lead to 6-2. In a dramatic turn of events, Raia mounted a late comeback with Silvano and Rio each scoring within two minutes, bringing the final score to 6-4 in favor of Paroda.

After the match, James Dcosta (Jimmy), Panch Member of Village Panchayat Curtorim, presented the Man of the Match award to Joy Fernandes of Fr. Agnelo Youth Sports Club, Paroda for his outstanding performance.
