Nuvem Veterans triumphed over Fatorda Veterans in the S. Mini Mart Seraulim Veterans Cup football tournament, securing a place in the final after a 6-4 victory in a tense penalty shootout. The match, organized by United Sports Club of Seraulim, ended 2-2 in regular time and was held at the Seraulim Church ground.
The game kicked off with both teams on the offensive, eager to seize control. Fatorda Veterans broke the deadlock early, with a goal in the 8th minute by Santano Furtado. Furtado skillfully headed in a cross from Joaquim Fernandes, sending Fatorda into the lead. Nuvem Veterans, however, responded with relentless pressure. Their persistence paid off in the 27th minute when a weak punch from Fatorda’s goalkeeper, Succoro Miranda, inadvertently found the back of the net, leveling the score at 1-1.
The teams went into the halftime break with the score tied, setting the stage for an intense second half.
After the break, both sides pushed for the lead, urged on by their passionate supporters. Fatorda Veterans struck again in the 38th minute through Francis Colaco, who capitalized on a counterattack and ran solo to score, putting Fatorda ahead 2-1. Despite several opportunities to extend their lead, Fatorda failed to convert, leaving the door open for a Nuvem comeback.
Nuvem Veterans, undeterred, fought hard for an equalizer, which finally came just before the final whistle. A cross from Agnelo Colaco was expertly headed into the far corner of the net by Marcus Carvalho, leaving the Fatorda goalkeeper helpless and sending the match to a penalty shootout.
In the tiebreaker, Nuvem proved to be the more composed team, with Agnelo Colaco, Marcus Carvalho, Domnick Noronha, and Wilson Fernandes all scoring. Fatorda Veterans managed to find the net through Seby Vaz and Santano Furtado, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Nuvem’s victory.
The match ended 6-4 in Nuvem Veterans’ favor, propelling them into the tournament final.
After the game, Agnelo Colaco was named Man of the Match for his decisive contributions, including his vital role in the equalizer and his successful penalty conversion. He received the award from Sohan D’Costa, an executive member of the United Sports Club of Seraulim.
