Don Bosco Oratory (DBO) Fatorda secured a commanding 3-0 win against Sporting Club of Davorlim to advance to the finals of the 2nd Betalbatim Villagers Cup 2024. The semifinal clash took place at the Panchayat Ground, Betalbatim and saw Don Bosco dominate early and maintain control throughout the game.
The match started on a high note for DBO Fatorda, with Wedly Barreto opening the scoring in just the 5th minute. His well-placed left-footed strike flew past the Davorlim goalkeeper, setting the tone for the rest of the game. DBO doubled their lead in the 23rd minute when Elroy Barreto found the back of the net with a neat finish, putting further pressure on the Sporting Club of Davorlim.
Davorlim struggled to respond, missing key opportunities to get back into the game. A notable chance came when William Niasso’s shot sailed over the crossbar, leaving Davorlim goalless by halftime, with Don Bosco Oratory leading comfortably at 2-0.
The second half saw both teams trying to assert control, but Davorlim’s finishing woes continued. Despite multiple attempts to level the score, they failed to convert their chances. In a crucial moment during the final quarter, Davorlim was awarded a penalty, but Shail Imandar missed the target, shooting over the crossbar and squandering their best chance to reduce the deficit.
In the 55th minute, Charles Miranda sealed the game for Don Bosco with a clinical strike, making it 3-0 and effectively ending Davorlim’s hopes of a comeback. With this victory, DBO Fatorda has booked its place in the final, showcasing both their offensive prowess and defensive resilience.
Elroy Barreto’s standout performance earned him the ‘Man of the Match’ award, which was presented by local football enthusiast Michael Fernandes from Betalbatim.
