Ferrari has confirmed a new multi-year contract with Charles Leclerc, ensuring the Monegasque driver remains with the Italian Formula One team for the coming seasons.

Leclerc joined Ferrari in 2019 after making his Formula One debut with Sauber in 2018. Before reaching Formula One, he won the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2017 and was regarded as one of the sport’s brightest young talents.

Since joining Ferrari, Leclerc has become one of the team’s most recognisable drivers. His time with the Scuderia has included memorable victories at Monza in 2019 and 2024, as well as an emotional home victory in Monaco in 2024. He now ranks second in Ferrari’s all-time list of race appearances, trailing only Michael Schumacher.

The new agreement extends a relationship that has lasted nearly a decade. Leclerc joined Ferrari’s Driver Academy in 2016 and has repeatedly expressed his belief that he can help bring a Formula One World Championship back to Maranello.

“I couldn’t be happier to continue this journey with Scuderia Ferrari HP. It has always been so much more than just a team to me. It’s the team I’ve loved and dreamt of being part of since I was a child, and after all these years it has become a second family,” Leclerc said.

“Together we’ve shared incredible moments and some tougher ones, but I believe in this team more than ever, and I’m deeply grateful that we will keep pushing side by side toward our shared goal of bringing the World Championship back to Maranello.

“Being a Ferrari driver is a dream, but it’s also a responsibility I never take for granted. I’ll continue to give absolutely everything I have to bring this team back to where it belongs, at the very top, for everyone in Maranello, and above all for the tifosi, whose passion is the heartbeat of this Scuderia,” he added.

Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur welcomed the renewal and described it as a natural continuation of Leclerc’s long association with the team.

“Charles has been part of the Ferrari family for many years now and this renewal feels like something very natural for us. Over these seasons we have seen him grow, to become not only one of the strongest drivers in Formula 1, but also a person who is completely at one with the team and everything Ferrari represents.

“We appreciate his talent, we love his determination and the way he approaches every day with the people in the Scuderia, both on and off the track. We know how much this project means to him and we are happy to continue working towards our shared goals,” Vasseur said.

The announcement comes ahead of Leclerc’s home race in Monaco, where Ferrari is expected to be among the strongest teams despite Mercedes winning every Grand Prix so far this season.

Ferrari’s recent performances around the streets of Monaco have boosted expectations. The circuit’s low-speed corners and demanding layout have traditionally suited the team’s package, reducing the significance of outright engine performance.

Championship leader Kimi Antonelli recently identified Ferrari as the team to beat in Monaco and suggested that both Leclerc and teammate Lewis Hamilton could emerge as major contenders.

A strong result in Monaco would provide a timely boost for Ferrari after a difficult outing in Canada, where Leclerc described the event as the most challenging weekend of his Formula One career. The team will now look to build momentum as it continues its pursuit of championship success.
