Prime Video has renewed its action thriller series Reacher for a fifth season ahead of the release of the show’s fourth season.
The streaming platform has not yet disclosed further details regarding season five, including which of author Lee Child’s novels will be adapted for the new instalment. Nick Santora will continue as showrunner for the series.
Peter Friedlander, head of global television at Amazon MGM Studios, said the franchise continues to draw audiences globally.
“From Lee Child’s globally beloved novels to its standout on-screen adaptation, Reacher has evolved into a true powerhouse franchise,” Friedlander said.
“The series’ ability to combine high-octane action with compelling character storytelling continues to resonate with tens of millions of viewers around the world. We’re excited to move forward with a fifth season ahead of season four’s debut and to build on this incredible momentum. We’re grateful to our outstanding creative partners, cast, and crew — Nick, Alan, Lee and Paramount Television Studios — for continuing to bring this world to life in such a bold and compelling way,” he added.
Season four of Reacher will be based on Gone Tomorrow, the 13th novel in the Reacher book series, which follows the story of the former military police investigator turned drifter and problem-solver.
