The youth of St. Lawrence Chapel, Arossim-Cansaulim, organised a São João celebration that brought together villagers and parishioners to mark the feast of St. John the Baptist through traditional food, cultural activities and community participation.
Residents from all wards of the chapel took part in the celebration by preparing a variety of traditional Goan dishes, including Patollio, Pinagr, Hole, Sevio, Ale-Bele, Soz and Filoz. The dishes were shared among those attending the event.
A highlight of the programme was the São João Kopel and traditional outfit competition. Representatives from each ward dressed as St. John the Baptist and delivered messages centred on repentance and renewal, reflecting the religious significance of the feast.
The event also included games and activities that encouraged participation across different age groups and provided an opportunity for members of the community to interact.
