The Don Bosco League Finals were held at Don Bosco School in Panaji on Saturday, with speakers highlighting the role of sports in shaping character and promoting inclusion among youth.
Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) Chairman Glenn Ticlo said that sports play a key role in building discipline, teamwork, and unity. He noted that Don Bosco institutions have consistently promoted inclusive values through sporting activities.
“Don Bosco believed that sports is a powerful tool to build character. Discipline is inculcated through sports and teamwork among young people. This tournament is unique as it brings together students, staff and alumni,” Ticlo said.
He added that such events help strengthen community bonding and encourage participation across groups.

GFDC member secretary Fransquinha Oliveira said the council remains focused on strengthening grassroots football by providing opportunities for young players.
“Football in Goa is not just a game, it is a way of life. It is encouraging to see institutions continuing this legacy by organising tournaments that bring together young talent and promote healthy competition,” she said.
Oliveira also highlighted the broader benefits of sports, including discipline, resilience, and respect, urging students to balance academics with sporting pursuits.
The finals saw Team Red Devils emerge as champions, while Team Shreeyang finished as runners-up.
