Water Resources and Co-operation Minister Subhash Shirodkar on Wednesday said the government has decided to increase milk procurement rates paid by Goa Dairy and appealed to dairy farmers to remain patient while the final decision is being worked out.
Addressing reporters, Shirodkar acknowledged concerns raised by milk producers regarding procurement prices and said the government is actively examining the issue.
“The government is aware of the concerns raised by milk producers over procurement prices and is working towards addressing the issue,” Shirodkar said.
He assured dairy farmers that the state government remains committed to strengthening the dairy sector and improving returns for local producers. According to the minister, discussions are underway and a decision on revised procurement rates will be announced after the process is completed.
On a separate issue concerning access to Anjunem Dam, Shirodkar clarified that entry into the dam premises is not permitted without prior authorisation.
He said security personnel have been deployed at the site to prevent unauthorised access and safeguard the infrastructure.
“No entry is permitted to the dam premises without prior permission,” the minister stated.
Shirodkar further said the government would examine whether alternative routes are being used to gain access to the dam area. If such access points are identified, authorities will take appropriate measures to prevent unauthorised entry through those routes.
He added that the restrictions are part of ongoing security measures aimed at protecting critical infrastructure and ensuring public safety.
The minister said the government will continue to monitor the situation around the dam and enforce measures necessary to secure the facility.
