The Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) conducted a poem-writing workshop for students of Our Lady of the Rosary High School in Dona Paula, introducing participants to the fundamentals of creative writing in Konkani.
The workshop, led by poet and writer Pandharinath Damodar Lotlikar, focused on helping students develop their writing skills through interactive sessions and practical exercises. Participants were introduced to key elements of poetry, including imagination, rhythm, expression and the effective use of language.
Students took part in the writing activities and explored ways to express their thoughts and emotions through poetry.
Addressing the gathering, Dalgado Konknni Akademi President Fr. Myron Jeson Barreto spoke about the role of poetry in nurturing creativity among young people.
“Poetry is the language of the heart. A poet transforms thoughts into words, creating a beautiful garden of ideas in the hearts and minds of readers.”
He encouraged students to cultivate reading and writing habits while helping preserve Konkani literature.
The programme was coordinated by school teacher Antoneta D’Souza.
All participating students received certificates at the conclusion of the workshop which formed part of the academy’s efforts to encourage literary creativity and promote Konkani writing among school students.
