Regina Mundi, St Thomas win Cluster 11 football titles

Regina Mundi won the Under-17 title 3-0 over St Andrew's, while St Thomas claimed the Under-15 crown after a penalty shootout. Both teams advance to the State-level tournament.

Regina Mundi, St Thomas qualify for State Subroto football tournament

Regina Mundi High School and St Thomas High School, Cansaulim secured qualification for the State-level Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament after winning the Mormugao Taluka Cluster 11 boys’ finals in their respective age categories on Thursday.

The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs conducted the Cluster 11 tournaments for the 2026-27 season on July 16 at Rose Circle Ground in Sada, Mormugao.

In the Under-17 boys’ final, Regina Mundi High School defeated St Andrew’s Higher Secondary School, Vasco 3-0 to claim the title. Matthias Rodrigues, Aaradhya Naik and Alden Almeida scored one goal each for the winners.

The victory sends Regina Mundi’s Under-17 team through to the State-level Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament.

U-15 title decided on penalties

The Under-15 boys’ final between St Thomas High School, Cansaulim and Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School, Cortalim ended 1-1 in regulation time before St Thomas prevailed 6-4 in the tie-breaker.

Crisbun Desouza scored for St Thomas during normal time, while Nirbhay Chauhan found the net for Our Lady of Perpetual Succour.

Following the penalty shootout victory, St Thomas High School qualified for the State-level Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament for the 2026-27 season.

The Cluster 11 competition forms part of the qualifying stages for the State tournament, with school teams progressing through taluka-level competition before advancing to the next phase.
