All schools in Goa must display Child Helpline 1098. Move follows Supreme Court concern over rising child abuse cases.

The Directorate of Education has made it mandatory for all government, aided, and unaided schools across Goa to prominently display the Child Helpline number 1098 on their premises.

Officials said instructions have been issued to school heads to ensure the helpline number is displayed at clearly visible locations within campuses. Authorities have also urged that the number be placed in other prominent public areas to improve awareness and accessibility.

The directive comes after the Supreme Court of India took suo motu cognisance of the rise in child rape cases across the country under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

The move is aimed at strengthening child safety measures and ensuring that children in distress can quickly access support services through the helpline.
