Joseph Assis Fernandes has been elected as the President of the Goan Seamen Association of India for the term 2026–2028.
The newly elected executive committee includes Capt. Christopher Fernandes and Santan Pereira as Vice Presidents. Michael Beny Da Costa has been appointed as Secretary, while Sandeep Kalekar will serve as Assistant Secretary.
Cheng Jose Moris Gomes has been named Treasurer, with Umakant Sawant as Assistant Treasurer. Dr. Anita D’Souza has been appointed Cultural Secretary, and Lawrie Pereira will serve as Sports Secretary.
The executive members of the association include Dixon Vaz and Joe Fernandes.
© Cicero Silva, HJSpeaking after his election, Joseph said, “So, already, I mean, in this committee we have included a woman, Dr. Anita. We want to show that this committee is not only about change, and it does not reflect on previous committees, but we want to give opportunities to everybody. That is what this committee will focus on.”
The new team will oversee the association’s activities during the 2026–2028 term.
