The national leadership of Adivasi Samanvay Manch Bharat has extended its support to Goa’s movement seeking the implementation of political reservation for Scheduled Tribes (STs) and announced that it will raise the issue with the Central Government.
The decision was taken during a two-day preparatory meeting in Goa attended by the organisation’s National President, Vishwanath Tirkey of Jharkhand, and National Co-ordinator Ashok Chaudhary of Gujarat. The meeting was held to finalise the roadmap for the National Tribal Rights Day, scheduled to be observed on Sept. 12 and 13, 2026, in Jharkhand.
According to the organisation, discussions focused on the delay in implementing political reservation for Scheduled Tribes in Goa under Article 332 of the Constitution, despite the enactment of the Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in the Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Act, 2025.
The leadership also discussed the demand for declaring Scheduled Areas in Goa under the Fifth Schedule of the Constitution, a long-standing demand that tribal groups say is necessary to strengthen protections relating to tribal land, governance and cultural rights.
Following the discussions, Adivasi Samanvay Manch Bharat said it had resolved to pursue both issues with the Central Government and seek their early implementation.
The organisation also expressed support for the United Tribal Associations Alliance (UTAA), which has announced a statewide public meeting and “Chalo Panaji” protest on Aug. 13, 2026, demanding the implementation of political reservation for Scheduled Tribes in Goa.
According to the organisation, representatives from tribal groups in several states are expected to participate in the Panaji protest, with the aim of drawing national attention to the issue.
The national leadership said it would work to mobilise support from tribal organisations across the country and continue advocating for what it described as the constitutional rights of Goa’s Scheduled Tribe communities.
