Murgaon High School, Headland-Sada won the Mormugao Taluka Cluster 11 Under-17 Boys Badminton Tournament after defeating Mt. Litera Zee School 3-1 in the final at the Indoor Hall of Chicalim Sports Complex on July 21.
The tournament was organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs as part of the Mormugao Taluka Cluster 11 school sports competitions for the 2026-27 academic year.
Murgaon High School took an early advantage in the opening singles match, where Adarsh Shirodkar defeated Adyant Bhargava of Mt. Litera Zee School 21-15, 21-9.
Mt. Litera Zee School responded in the second singles through Prateek Dutt, who overcame Piyush Mothie in a closely contested match 21-13, 16-21, 15-10 to level the contest.
The title was decided in the doubles fixture, with Murgaon High School’s pairing of Adarsh Shirodkar and Piyush Mothie defeating Prateek Dutt and Deekshith Reddy of Mt. Litera Zee School 21-9, 21-15 to seal the championship.
The winning Murgaon High School squad comprised Piyush Mothie, Adarsh Shirodkar and Saksham Dhuri.
Officials present during the tournament included Vinayak Korgaonkar, Physical Education Teacher at Vidya Mandir High School; Rashmi, badminton official; Manthan V. Adpaikar, Taluka Sports Organiser for Mormugao Taluka Cluster 11; Vivek Naik, Physical Education Teacher at Murgaon High School, Headland-Sada; and Vishal Naik, Physical Education Teacher at New English High School, New Vaddem.
