Vidya Mandir wins Mormugao Cluster 11 U-14 girls badminton

Vidya Mandir School claimed the Mormugao Cluster 11 Under-14 Girls Badminton title with a 2-0 victory over St. Andrew's ICSE School. The team has qualified for the state-level tournament.

Vidya Mandir School, Chicalim, emerged champions of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs’ Mormugao Taluka Cluster 11 Under-14 Girls Badminton Tournament for the 2026-27 season after defeating St. Andrew’s ICSE School 2-0 in the final at the Indoor Hall, Chicalim Sports Complex.

Vidya Mandir sealed the title by winning both singles matches in the final.

In the opening singles, Mahee Shadani defeated Misti Chodankar of St. Andrew’s ICSE School in straight sets, winning 21-14 and 21-6.

Saiesha Cumbarjuerkar secured the championship for Vidya Mandir by overcoming Pelicia Fernandes 21-10 and 21-8 in the second singles match.

With the victory, Vidya Mandir School has qualified for the State-Level Under-14 Girls Badminton Tournament for the 2026-27 season.

The winning Vidya Mandir squad comprised Tanisi Salgaonkar, Manushree Rawool, Mahee Shadani and Saiesha Cumbarjuerkar.

Officials present during the tournament included badminton official Rashmi Lobo, Mormugao Taluka Cluster 11 Taluka Sports Organiser Manthan V. Adpaikar, Vidya Mandir School physical education teacher Vinayak Korgaonkar and Vaddem Nagar English High School physical education teacher Vishal Naik.
