The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the match officials for the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 as the tournament enters its knockout stage.
Elite panel umpires and referees have been appointed for the two high-profile fixtures scheduled in Kolkata and Mumbai.
The first semi-final will see South Africa face New Zealand on Wednesday, March 4, at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Richard Illingworth and Alex Wharf have been named as the on-field umpires for the contest.
Illingworth previously officiated in South Africa’s semi-final against Afghanistan during the last T20 World Cup, while Wharf stood in New Zealand’s group-stage match against Afghanistan earlier in the tournament.
Nitin Menon will serve as the third umpire for the fixture, with Rod Tucker appointed as the fourth umpire. Javagal Srinath will oversee proceedings as match referee.
The second semi-final will take place on Thursday, March 5, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where India will take on England.
Chris Gaffaney and Allahuddien Paleker have been appointed as the on-field umpires for the match. Gaffaney had also officiated when India and England met in the semi-finals of the 2024 T20 World Cup, while Paleker has already officiated multiple matches during the ongoing tournament.
Adrian Holdstock will act as the third umpire, Paul Reiffel will be the fourth umpire, and Andy Pycroft will serve as match referee.
India, the defending champions, will be aiming to reach another final as they pursue their third ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title.
