John Wick is coming to a gaming console near you. And before you ask — yes, that is indeed Keanu Reeves suiting up once again as the legendary hitman, this time in a AAA single-player, third-person action title developed by Saber Interactive in collaboration with Lionsgate.
Confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC, the untitled project is described as being “tailored for mature audiences.” Which, given the body count in the films, should surprise absolutely nobody.
What makes this more than just another franchise cash-grab is the involvement of director Chad Stahelski, who helmed all four films. His presence in the development process signals a genuine attempt to preserve the tone, choreography and visual language that made John Wick a cultural phenomenon in the first place.
The game is set years before the events of the Impossible Task — that unexplored stretch of Wick’s timeline that fans have long wanted to peek into. The narrative is original, built specifically for the gaming format, and will feature familiar faces from the films alongside new characters created exclusively for this universe. Players will navigate the layered, lethal world governed by the High Table, which if you’ve seen the films, you know is essentially the mafia’s mafia.
At the heart of the gameplay is John Wick’s signature “gun-fu” — that gloriously choreographed blend of firearms and hand-to-hand combat that had audiences simultaneously wincing and cheering. Saber Interactive, known for delivering high-intensity gaming experiences, will attempt to translate that cinematic magic into something you can actually play.
Lionsgate’s President of Global Products & Experiences, Jenefer Brown, confirmed the studio is working closely with Saber to ensure the game captures the franchise’s defining action and world-building. Saber CEO Matthew Karch called Wick one of the most iconic characters in action film history and described the collaboration with Reeves, Stahelski and Lionsgate as an honour.
A release date remains unannounced. So for now, the Continental’s doors remain closed. But they’re definitely unlocking.
