The Department of Posts (DoP) under the Ministry of Communications has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with DTDC Express Limited to strengthen India’s logistics and e-commerce ecosystem.
The agreement was formalised in New Delhi by Neeraj Kumar Jha, General Manager of Parcel Directorate, Department of Posts, and Abhishek Chakraborty, Chief Executive Officer of DTDC Express Limited, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
The partnership aims to leverage the extensive infrastructure of the Department of Posts along with DTDC’s logistics expertise to improve parcel delivery operations across the country. Officials said the MoU builds on an ongoing collaboration between the two entities that began in 2025.
According to the agreement, DTDC will be able to utilise DoP’s nationwide postal network to expand its delivery services, including Cash on Delivery (COD). The collaboration will also focus on joint logistics operations, sharing of capacity, adoption of best practices in the parcel industry, and alignment of marketing strategies to enhance efficiency and service quality.
Both organisations have agreed to hold quarterly review meetings to assess progress, ensure system integration, and identify further opportunities to strengthen the logistics network.
DTDC is expected to benefit from access to DoP’s network of over 1.64 lakh post offices across India, which could help improve delivery speed and expand reach, particularly in remote regions. Officials noted that the move would support the growing demands of the e-commerce sector.
For the Department of Posts, the collaboration is expected to strengthen its parcel business by enabling faster transmission and delivery services, while also expanding its operational capabilities in the logistics space.
The Department of Posts operates one of the largest postal networks in the world, providing communication, logistics and financial services, and plays a key role in supporting India’s e-commerce growth.
