GE Aerospace on Monday announced an investment of Rs 100 crore in its manufacturing facility in Pune, aimed at expanding production capabilities and strengthening the company’s long-term manufacturing presence in India.
The company said the latest investment will be used for the introduction of new welding technologies, advanced inspection systems, precision tools, gauges, fixtures, and infrastructure upgrades designed to improve process precision and increase production capacity.
According to GE Aerospace, the Pune facility supports the production of components used in several global aircraft engine programmes, including the GE90, GEnx, GE9X, and CFM International’s LEAP engines.
The latest allocation builds on investments worth Rs 410 crore made over the last two years, taking the total investment in the Pune facility to more than Rs 510 crore over a three-year period.
Previous investments had focused on automation, manufacturing process upgrades, and the development of capabilities for next-generation engine components.
CFM International operates as a 50-50 joint venture between GE Aerospace and Safran Aircraft Engines.
“This continued investment reflects GE Aerospace’s long-term commitment to India and our confidence in the Pune facility’s role within our global manufacturing network,” said Vishwajit Singh, Managing Director of the Pune manufacturing facility at GE Aerospace.
The Pune plant functions as part of the company’s global supply chain for commercial aircraft engines. GE Aerospace said the facility works alongside more than 300 local suppliers as part of a larger supplier network of over 2,200 vendors across India.

The company stated that the manufacturing hub contributes to global aerospace programmes through precision engineering and advanced manufacturing capabilities developed in India.
“Our continued growth is a win for our customers and the broader community, driving more apprenticeship and job opportunities at GE Aerospace and for our supplier partners. Over the past decade, this facility has grown into a high-capability aerospace manufacturing hub, strengthening India’s supplier ecosystem and contributing to GE Aerospace’s global supply chain,” Singh added.
GE Aerospace also highlighted workforce development initiatives linked to the facility. The Pune plant runs a structured two-year apprenticeship programme that enrols more than 500 apprentices annually for classroom sessions and specialised TIG welding training conducted through its in-house Weld School.
The company said that since 2015, the facility has trained more than 5,000 production associates as part of efforts to develop an aerospace manufacturing talent pipeline in India.
GE Aerospace added that it also supports technical education and regional skill development initiatives through community and workforce development grants.
