The Dalgado Konkani Akademi (DKA) organised a workshop on Romi Konkani orthography for parishioners of Holy Trinity Church in Benaulim, with the aim of promoting the correct use of the language and encouraging greater appreciation of Romi Konkani among the faithful.
The session was conducted by writer and poet Menino Almeida, who explained the principles of correct spelling and writing in Romi Konkani. Parishioners actively participated in the workshop.
Welcoming those present, Holy Trinity Church Parish Priest Fr. Ligorinho D’Costa appreciated the initiative taken by the Dalgado Konkani Akademi to preserve and promote the language. Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Clifford Fernandes was also present during the programme.
Addressing the participants, Dalgado Konkani Akademi President Fr. Myron Jeson Barreto highlighted the importance of learning and preserving Romi Konkani.
“He urged the faithful to nurture a love for their mother tongue and to actively support efforts aimed at safeguarding and promoting Konkani language and literature.”
