Gujarat Titans registered a comfortable four-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League 2026 clash on Thursday at Ahmedabad, chasing down 156 in 15.4 overs.
A disciplined bowling effort set up the result, with Arshad Khan (3/22), Rashid Khan (2/19) and Jason Holder (2/29) restricting RCB to 155 in 19.2 overs.
In reply, Shubman Gill (43 off 18) and Jos Buttler (39 off 19) powered the chase with aggressive strokeplay at the top.
Gill’s explosive start sets tone for chase
Chasing 156, GT got off to a flying start with Gill attacking from the outset. The opener smashed 24 runs off an over from Josh Hazlewood, hitting three boundaries and two sixes.
RCB struck early when Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Sai Sudharsan for 6, but Buttler capitalised on a dropped chance by Jitesh Sharma. He followed it up immediately with a six, pushing GT to 55/1 after four overs.
Bhuvneshwar struck again to remove Gill in the fifth over, but GT maintained momentum, reaching 69/2 at the end of the powerplay.

A brief wobble followed as Washington Sundar and Shahrukh Khan fell in the 11th over, but Rahul Tewatia (27) and Jason Holder added a crucial 36-run stand to steady the chase.
Holder’s dismissal in the 14th over was the last breakthrough for RCB, as Tewatia and Rashid Khan guided GT home with ease.
RCB collapse after Kohli’s brisk start
Earlier, RCB began strongly after being put in to bat. Virat Kohli led the charge, striking five consecutive boundaries off Kagiso Rabada in the second over to take the score to 27 without loss.
However, momentum shifted quickly. Mohammed Siraj removed Jacob Bethell for 5, and Rabada dismissed Kohli for 28 off 13 balls, leaving RCB at 39/2.
Rajat Patidar (19) was dismissed in the eighth over, and the innings unravelled further as wickets fell at regular intervals. Jason Holder sent back Jitesh Sharma for 1, while Rashid Khan removed Tim David for 9, reducing RCB to 91/5 at the halfway stage.
Arshad Khan dismissed Krunal Pandya for 4, deepening the collapse. A brief recovery came through Devdutt Padikkal (40 off 24) and Romario Shepherd (17), taking the score to 113/6.
Rashid ended Padikkal’s innings in the 14th over, and Holder struck again to remove Shepherd. RCB slumped to 132/8 and never fully recovered.
Late contributions from Venkatesh Iyer (12) and an unbeaten 15 from Bhuvneshwar Kumar helped RCB reach 155 before being bowled out in 19.2 overs.
