India will host Afghanistan for a one-off Test and a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series from June 6 to June 20, 2026.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed the itinerary for Afghanistan’s tour, which will begin with a five-day Test in New Chandigarh from June 6 to June 10.
The ODI series will commence on June 14 in Dharamshala. The second match is scheduled for June 17 in Lucknow, while the third and final ODI will be played in Chennai on June 20. All three ODIs will start at 1:30 PM IST.
The announcement comes as India continues its campaign in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026, where the team has advanced to the semifinals.
India secured qualification for the final four after a five-wicket victory over West Indies in a Super 8 clash at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Chasing a target of 196, India recovered from 41 for 2 in the powerplay. Opener Sanu Samson anchored the innings with an unbeaten 97 off 50 balls, steering the side to victory.
Earlier, West Indies posted 195 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs. Roston Chase scored 40, while Shai Hope contributed 32 at the top of the order. Late acceleration from Jason Holder, who remained unbeaten on 37, and Rovman Powell, who added 34 not out, pushed the total close to the 200-run mark.
Jasprit Bumrah was India’s most effective bowler, returning figures of 2 for 36. Varun Chakaravarthy and Hardik Pandya picked up a wicket each.
India will now turn its focus to the knockout stage of the T20 World Cup before preparing to host Afghanistan for the red-ball and 50-over contests in June next year.
