The series is based on George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood and is set around 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. It follows the Targaryen civil war, referred to in Westeros history as the “Dance of the Dragons.”
The cast includes Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell and Tom Glynn-Carney, among others.
The show is co-created by Ryan Condal and George R.R. Martin, both of whom also serve as executive producers. Condal continues as showrunner.
