Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) Intergroup Goa (South) marked its 37th anniversary along with the 69th anniversary of AA in India with an awareness programme on alcoholism held in Margao on May 1.
The event took place at the Old Collectorate Building, located opposite the Margao Municipal Garden, where participants gathered to highlight the importance of understanding alcoholism as a disease and the role of AA in recovery.
The programme focused on spreading awareness about alcoholism and emphasised the availability of free support systems for individuals seeking recovery. Organisers underlined that AA continues to function as a global fellowship of men and women who share their experiences, strength, and hope to help themselves and others overcome alcoholism.

Speakers at the event highlighted that AA has, over the years, contributed to numerous recovery journeys, helping individuals rebuild healthier and more productive lives. The initiative aimed to reach not only individuals struggling with alcoholism but also families who may be affected and are in need of guidance and support.
The organisers stated that increasing public awareness remains a key priority, particularly in encouraging people to seek help without stigma at the various AA support networks in Goa.
AA Intergroup Goa (South) continues to operate from its office at the Old Collectorate Building in Margao and provides ongoing support through meetings and helpline services for those seeking assistance.
