
Goa’s literary calendar gathers momentum as the 14th edition of the Goa Arts and Literature Festival (GALF) will be held from February 12 to 14 at the International Centre Goa.
Organised by the International Centre Goa in association with the Goa Writers Group, the three-day festival will bring together writers, thinkers, translators, filmmakers and readers for conversations, poetry readings and book launches. The event will also feature Young GALF, a mini-festival for children and young adults.
The festival will be inaugurated by author Easterine Kire and writer-translator Rakhshanda Jalil. The opening day will include the launch of Forest Recipes of Goa – Stories of Tribal Food by Assavri Kulkarni, with the official artwork to be unveiled by cartoonist Alexyz.
UK-based food writer and editor Jonathan Nunn will make his debut appearance at the festival on February 13.
Among the key sessions, Prof Ravikant Kisana will discuss Meet the Savarnas: Indian Millennials Whose Mediocrity Ruined Everything in conversation with Prof Vasudha Sawaikar. The festival will also see the launch of a new edition of Fish Curry and Rice, a reference work on Goa’s environmental heritage, along with Appetite: New Writing from Goa, an anthology by the Goa Writers Group.
Renowned translator and editor Mini Krishnan will speak on translation and the role it plays in bringing Indian-language literature to wider audiences.

Author Jerry Pinto will discuss his latest work exploring palliative healthcare in a session with Padma Shri awardee Dr Armida Fernandez.
The poetry line-up includes Ranjit Hoskote, Rochelle Potkar, Joshua Ip, Daryl Lim Wei Jei and David Rodrigues, among others.
Filmmaker Paromita Vohra will speak on Love, Sex and India – The Agents of Ishq Anthology in conversation with Karanjeet Kaur. Journalist and author Sowmiya Ashok will discuss her book The DIG-Keeladi and the Politics of India’s Past in a session with Vidya Dehejia.
