Dalgado Konkani Akademi (DKA) organised a book release function at St. Christopher’s Church, Tivim, where two Konkani books authored by Annie de Colvale were unveiled in the presence of literary enthusiasts and members of the community.
The first book, “Ghostachem Rand Ruchin Jev,” is a Goan recipe book celebrating traditional cuisine, local flavours and culinary heritage in Roman Konkani, published by DKA. The second, “Jivit Ek Pustok,” is a reflective work on life and personal journeys, presented as a collection of poems and published by Annie de Colvale.
Eminent writer Vincy Quadros spoke on “Jivit Ek Pustok,” while writer Irene Cardozo addressed the gathering on “Ghostachem Rand Ruchin Jev,” offering insights into the themes and significance of both works.
Chief Guest Celso Fernandes, former president of DKA, highlighted the Akademi’s role in promoting Romi Konkani. He encouraged the audience to cultivate reading and writing habits to strengthen the language.
Guest of Honour Fr. Francisco Fernandes, Parish Priest of St. Christopher’s Church, Tivim, praised the author’s contribution to Romi Konkani literature and urged individuals to use their talents to enrich the language.
Melissa Simoes introduced the chief guest, while Merlin Dsouza introduced the guest of honour.
DKA President Fr. Myron Jeson Barreto thanked the audience for their continued support towards Romi Konkani and stressed the need for greater readership as more books are published. He also encouraged people to deepen their knowledge through reading and develop a taste for the language.
