Fr. Agnel College, Pilar has appointed Prof. (Dr.) Annie Rajan as its new Principal.
The appointment was announced during a function attended by members of the college administration, faculty and staff.
Introducing the new Principal, Rev. Fr. Anthony D’Silva highlighted Dr. Rajan’s academic career spanning nearly three decades. She previously served as an Associate Professor at DCT’s Dhempe College and was also associated with the coordination of its IGNOU Study Centre.
Dr. Rajan holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Mumbai. Her doctoral research focused on the development of a machine translation toolkit for Konkani. Her work has centred on natural language processing, machine translation and computational linguistics, particularly for low-resource Indian languages.
Rev. Fr. Jerry Vaz, Rev. Dr. Frederico Rodrigues and Rev. Fr. Milton Rodrigues were present during the programme, Members of the college’s non-teaching staff later introduced themselves to Dr. Rajan and welcomed to her new role as she assumes charge of the institution.
Faculty and staff also acknowledged the contribution of Rev. Dr. Frederico Rodrigues, who led the institution prior to Dr. Rajan’s appointment.
