A Konkani learning course in Roman script is currently underway for seminarians of St. Pius X College Archdiocesan Seminary at Pilar.

The programme is being organised by the Global Konknni Forum. It is conducted under the guidance of a former Konkani college lecturer and editor of the Roman script Konkani weekly Fuddari.

The course focuses on the systematic study of grammar, treating it as the foundation for clear and accurate communication. Participants are being trained in sentence formation, verb usage, agreement, and syntax to strengthen their understanding of the language.

Alongside grammar, the seminarians are also attending sessions aimed at improving reading and writing skills. Guided reading exercises expose them to texts relevant to ecclesiastical and community contexts, helping to build comprehension and vocabulary.

Writing sessions are designed to help participants express their thoughts in a structured and coherent manner. The integrated approach aims to move learners beyond basic understanding to functional proficiency in Konkani.

The course is expected to help seminarians use Konkani in Roman script with greater confidence in their pastoral work and community interactions.
