Shree Damodar Vidyalaya High School registered a commanding eight-wicket victory over Bhatikar Model High School in the inter-school leather ball taluka-level final organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs on Friday.
Batting first in the match played at Fatorda, Bhatikar Model High School managed to post 86 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. The total never looked imposing, and Shree Damodar Vidyalaya capitalised on the modest target with a disciplined bowling effort followed by a clinical chase.
For Bhatikar, Vansh Naik top-scored with 20 runs, while Aarav Gaude remained unbeaten on 10. Extras also contributed to the total. However, the innings lacked momentum as Shree Damodar’s bowlers kept the scoring in check throughout.
Ansh Kashyap led the bowling attack for Shree Damodar with figures of 2 for 11, while Affan Shaikh supported well with 2 for 16. Usman Ghani chipped in with one wicket as Bhatikar were restricted to a below-par score.
Chasing 87 for victory, Shree Damodar Vidyalaya approached the target with confidence. Usman Ghani provided early impetus with a quick 25 off 18 balls, setting the tone for the innings.
Rumaan Mulam anchored the chase with a composed unbeaten 45, which included five boundaries, ensuring there were no late hiccups. Mohammed Ehtesham added 9 runs as the team reached 87 for 2 in just 13.2 overs.
Bhatikar’s bowlers failed to make an impact, unable to apply pressure or break partnerships, as Shree Damodar Vidyalaya cruised to victory and clinched the title comfortably.
