Commercial LPG cylinder prices have been increased with effect from April 1, with notable hikes reported across major Indian cities.
In Delhi, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been revised to Rs 2,078.50, an increase of Rs 195.50. The 5 kg FTL cylinder has also seen a rise of Rs 51, now priced at Rs 549 per refill.
Kolkata has recorded a steeper increase, with the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder price going up by Rs 218, reflecting a broader upward trend in fuel costs across urban centres.
Domestic LPG prices, however, remain unchanged. The 14.2 kg household cooking gas cylinder continues to cost Rs 913 in Delhi, following a Rs 60 increase implemented on March 7.
The latest revisions come amid rising geopolitical tensions in West Asia involving the United States, Israel and Iran. The situation has disrupted energy supply routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, a critical corridor for global crude oil movement.
Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices have also been increased across major metro cities from April 1. In Delhi, ATF is now priced at Rs 2,07,341.22 per kilolitre. Kolkata stands at Rs 2,05,953.33 per kilolitre, while Mumbai and Chennai have recorded prices of Rs 1,94,968.67 and Rs 2,14,597.66 per kilolitre, respectively.
ATF prices for domestic airlines operating international routes have also risen sharply, increasing from Rs 816 per kilolitre to Rs 1,690 per kilolitre.
The increase in aviation fuel prices aligns with rising global crude oil rates, influenced by geopolitical uncertainties and higher refining costs.
Earlier, the central government reduced excise duty on petrol to Rs 3 per litre and brought it down to zero for diesel. A windfall tax of Rs 21.5 per litre has also been imposed on diesel exports.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has stated that fuel supplies across the country remain stable. It said all retail outlets are functioning normally and that adequate stocks of petrol and diesel are available. Citizens have been advised against panic buying.
Officials added that refineries are operating at high capacity and domestic LPG production has been increased to meet demand.
