Goa CM Pramod Sawant welcomes Centre’s fuel duty cut. Says move will stabilise prices and ease burden on citizens.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has welcomed the Union Government’s decision to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel, stating that the move comes at a critical time of global crude oil price volatility.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Sawant said the reduction in duties would help shield citizens from fluctuations in international fuel prices. The Centre has cut excise duty on petrol from ₹13 to ₹3 per litre and reduced diesel duty from ₹10 to nil.

He noted that global crude oil markets have remained unstable due to ongoing tensions in West Asia, making the intervention timely.

According to the Chief Minister, the decision is expected to help maintain fuel price stability and reduce the financial burden on consumers. He added that the move would also support Oil Marketing Companies.

Sawant said the reduction reflects the government’s focus on balancing economic stability with public welfare, particularly at a time of external market pressures.
