India registered a clinical seven-wicket victory over New Zealand in a rain-affected Group B match of the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026 in Bulawayo on Saturday, sealing an unbeaten run in the group stage.
The contest was reduced to 37 overs per side following a rain interruption, with New Zealand opting to bat first. The Kiwis were bowled out for 135 in 36.2 overs, struggling to build momentum against a disciplined Indian bowling attack.
Callum Samson remained unbeaten on 37 off 48 deliveries, while Selwin Sanjay added 28 off 30 balls. The rest of the batting line-up failed to offer significant resistance.
RS Ambrish delivered a standout performance with the ball, claiming four wickets for 29 runs in eight overs and earning the Player of the Match award. Henil Patel supported well with figures of 3 for 23, while Khilan Patel, Mohamed Enaan and Kanishk Chouhan chipped in with a wicket each.
Revised by the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method, India were set a target of 130 runs, which they chased down comfortably in 13.3 overs.
Opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi struck a quick 43 off 23 balls, including three sixes and two fours. Captain Ayush Mhatre anchored the chase with an unbeaten 53 off 27 deliveries, hitting two fours and six sixes to guide India home with ease.
With the win, India completed their Group B campaign with victories over the USA, Bangladesh and New Zealand. Bangladesh and New Zealand also progressed to the Super Six stage.
