Chicalim vicar Fr Bolmax Pereira remains in critical condition and is on life support at Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, after suffering a heart attack late Saturday night.

Hospital sources said Fr Pereira was initially taken to a hospital in Vasco after he collapsed at a railway station on Saturday morning. Doctors there revived him before he was shifted to GMC for further treatment.

Sources said he remained stable through Saturday and interacted with family members and visitors during the day. However, late Saturday night, he suffered a myocardial infarction.

Doctors revived him and placed him on ventilator support in the Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU).

Medical sources indicated that Fr Pereira had been brought to GMC with diabetes and hypertension-related health complications.

A source familiar with the situation said doctors had advised close medical observation.

“So far, 24 hours have passed by and there has been no change in the health parameters of Fr Bolmax and he continued to be on life support on Sunday evening,” the source said.

Friends, parishioners from Chicalim and others who know Fr Pereira have been sharing messages on WhatsApp and social media seeking prayers for his recovery.
