The South Goa district administration has reviewed preparations for the Goa Legislative Assembly Election 2027, with a focus on ensuring smooth coordination among departments responsible for conducting the polls.
A review meeting chaired by the Collector and District Magistrate, South Goa, assessed the district’s election management plan for South Goa and Kushavati districts. Officials examined the preparedness of various departments and discussed measures required to ensure the election process is conducted efficiently, transparently and in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
The meeting covered a wide range of election-related responsibilities, including law and order management, Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) management, manpower deployment, polling personnel training, material management, voter awareness activities under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, communication planning, media monitoring, use of information technology applications, accessibility measures for voters, transport arrangements, medical facilities and election expenditure monitoring.
To streamline election management, the district administration designated nodal officers and assistant nodal officers for key functional areas.
Additional Collector-I Srinet Kothwale has been appointed Nodal Officer for Law and Order and Vulnerability Mapping.
Manuel Barretto, Member Secretary of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, will oversee EVM Management, assisted by Yogini Acharya, Assistant Director of Tribal Welfare.
Johnson Fernandes, Chief Executive Officer of the Goa Khadi and Village Industries Board, has been designated Nodal Officer for Manpower Management and Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) at polling stations, with Samrat Naik Gaonkar serving as Assistant Nodal Officer.
Dr Nilesh B. Fal Dessai has been appointed Nodal Officer for Training Management, while Prashant Shirodkar and Vipul Naik Gaonkar will oversee Material Management.
Deepali Naik and Radhika R. Prabhudessai have been assigned responsibility for SVEEP activities, while Additional Collector-III Vishal Kundaikar has been designated Nodal Officer for the Model Code of Conduct and Complaints Redressal.
Pritidas Gaonkar will oversee the Communication Plan and District Election Management Plan.
Postal ballot management, ballot papers and outreach to migratory voters will be handled by Abhir Hede, assisted by Siddesh S. Kerkar.
© DIP GoaThe Media Certification and Monitoring Committee will be headed by Allwyn Pereira, with Shanto Naik and Siddesh S. Samant serving as Assistant Nodal Officers.
Deepesh Priolkar and Abhijit Jambale have been appointed for coordination with Election Observers.
Information technology-related responsibilities, including computerisation, SMS monitoring, the Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) and other technology applications, will be handled by Harshad Pawar, Rajesh Pednekar, Eldrida Crasto and Amogh Sanzgiri.
Snehal Prabhu has been designated Nodal Officer for ERoll and ERO Net.
Strong room management, counting arrangements and declaration of results will be overseen by Joao B. Fernandes, assisted by Vinod Zambaulikar.
Randomisation of EVMs and polling and counting personnel will be coordinated by Alex Kurian, with Abhishek Parashar and Chander Mohan serving as Assistant Nodal Officers.
Medical facilities will be supervised by Dr Rajendra Borkar and Dr Jayashree Madkaikar.
Accessibility measures for elections and welfare of persons with disabilities will be coordinated by Dr Balaji Sudas Shenvy and Pradnya Dessai.
Transport management responsibilities have been assigned to Roshel Fernandes and Amit N. Sawant.
Election expenditure monitoring will be overseen by Manoj S. Pawar.
The administration stated that all designated officers have been directed to maintain close coordination with their respective departments and undertake the necessary preparatory measures to ensure the efficient and transparent conduct of the Goa Legislative Assembly Election 2027.
