The Cyber Crime Police Station, Goa, has arrested a Kerala-based man in connection with an online investment fraud in which a resident of Caranzalem, Tiswadi, was cheated of ₹67 lakh.
The case was registered on December 2, 2025, under Crime No. 44/2025, invoking provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act, 2023, and Section 66-D of the Information Technology Act, following a complaint lodged by the victim.
Police said the fraud occurred between October 1 and October 24, 2025. During this period, the accused allegedly contacted the complainant through multiple WhatsApp numbers and posed as representatives of an investment firm offering “DeepGTP Global ETF Investments”. The complainant was persuaded to invest through a fake trading application on the promise of high returns.
Investigations revealed that the investment platform was fraudulent and resulted in a total financial loss of ₹67 lakh to the complainant.
Following a technical and financial probe, the suspect was traced to Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. A team from the Cyber Crime Police Station, Goa, arrested Anuraj R, son of Rajendran S, a resident of Kattakkada in Thiruvananthapuram district.
Police said ₹28 lakh was credited to the accused’s bank account at the initial stage of the fraud. The funds were later transferred to several other accounts linked to associates. Further scrutiny showed that the same bank account was connected to four other cyber fraud cases reported in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Goa, involving a total amount of ₹54.4 lakh.
The accused has been produced before the court and remanded to police custody. Further investigation is ongoing.
