The South Goa District Police, under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Tikam Verma, have intensified their operations against narcotics trafficking and property-related crimes across the district. From September 9 to October 15, 2025, the district’s Anti-Narcotics teams registered 13 cases under the NDPS Act, resulting in the seizure of drugs worth ₹15,01,500.

During these operations, 20 accused persons were arrested for possession and trafficking of various narcotic substances, including 8.914 kg of Ganja, 47.78 grams of Hydroponic Weed, and 28.9 grams of MDMA. The sustained drive reflects the South Goa Police’s commitment to curbing drug trafficking through intelligence-led policing, field vigilance, and community cooperation.

Superintendent Tikam Verma emphasized the department’s focus on combining random patrolling with strong community engagement to maintain safety and curb illicit activities. The police have urged citizens to report any drug-related activities to the nearest police station or through the Goa Police helpline.

In a parallel achievement, the South Goa District Police have made significant progress in recovering lost and stolen mobile phones, demonstrating the successful use of technology in citizen services. Through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, the police recovered 67 mobile phones reported missing across several stations:

  • Vasco PS – 22  - Margao PS – 13  - Colva – 5  - Curchorem – 6
  • Ponda – 6  - Quepem – 7  - Verna – 5  - Mormugao – 2  - Sanguem – 1

SP Tikam Verma noted that the success of these recoveries was due to effective coordination between the public, the police, and telecom service providers, reaffirming the department’s focus on using technology for citizen-centric policing. Citizens are encouraged to report stolen or lost mobile phones through the CEIR portal (www.ceir.gov.in)
