DKA launches ‘Sod Pormoll’ Konkani research journal

DKA introduces a peer-reviewed journal focused on Romi Konkani literature. The publication aims to boost research and academic engagement in the language.

The Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) has launched a peer-reviewed research journal titled ‘Sod Pormoll’, aimed at promoting the study and documentation of Konkani literature.

The journal is designed as a scholarly platform for writers, researchers, and academicians to examine various aspects of the Konkani language, literature, and culture. All research articles in the publication are presented in Romi Konkani.

‘Sod Pormoll’ includes a collection of research papers, critical essays, and literary analyses exploring different genres and traditions within Konkani literature. Contributions have been made by established scholars, emerging writers, and language enthusiasts.

Fr. Myron Jeson Barreto serves as the editor of the journal, with Fausto V. Da Costa and Dr. Fr. Luis Gomes as co-editors. Vincy Quadros is also part of the editorial team. The peer review panel includes Dr. Carlos Fernandes, Dr. Cosma Fernandes, Dr. Fr. Victor Ferrao, Dr. Glenis Mendonca, Fr. Roman Rodrigues, and Fr. Jose Silveira.

Speaking on the initiative, Fr. Myron Jeson Barreto said the journal seeks to support the documentation and preservation of Konkani literary heritage through structured academic research. He added that the publication is expected to encourage greater participation from young researchers.

The Akademi has also invited submissions for future editions, with plans to develop the journal into a regular academic publication.
