The Dalgado Konknni Akademi organised a half-day workshop on learning to write in Roman Konkani at Ravindra Bhavan, drawing participation from writers and learners keen on strengthening the use of the script.

The session, held at the Black Box venue, was guided by resource persons including Prof. S. M. Borges, Fausto V. Da Costa, Vincy Quadros, Dr. Fr. Luis Gomes, Menino Almeida and Melissa Simoes. The workshop focused on grammar, structure and writing techniques, offering practical inputs for both beginners and experienced writers.

Participants included several Romi Konkani writers, reflecting what organisers described as a growing interest in preserving and promoting the Roman script of the Konkani language.

On the occasion, a book titled Romi Konknni Xikom-ia was released. The publication lays out grammar guidelines and writing rules in Roman Konkani and is intended as a reference for learners as well as a teaching aid. The editorial board comprises Prof. S. M. Borges, Fausto V. Da Costa, Vincy Quadros, Dr. Fr. Luis Gomes, Menino Almeida, Melissa Simoes, Agnelo Borim and Fr. Myron Jeson Barreto.

Organisers said the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the literary and linguistic heritage of Konkani in its Roman script and to encourage more structured learning among new writers.
