Goa Cricket Association (GCA) president Mahesh Dessai and general secretary Tulsidas Shetye met India men’s cricket team captain Suryakumar Yadav during the Naman Awards held in New Delhi on Sunday.
During the interaction, the GCA officials congratulated Yadav on India’s victory in the recently concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final against New Zealand.
Dessai and Shetye praised the performances and leadership shown by the Indian team during the tournament.
Dessai, who earlier served as the India team manager this year, said it was a proud moment to meet the national captain.
“Suryakumar Yadav has been an inspiration for many young cricketers across the country with his fearless style of play and dedication to the game. Interacting with him was truly motivating, and we hope more youngsters from Goa take inspiration from such players and pursue sports with passion,” Dessai said.
The GCA office bearers also discussed the growing popularity of cricket and other sports across the country and highlighted the importance of developing young talent at the grassroots level.
The Naman Awards, organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), recognise the achievements of Indian cricketers and honour outstanding performances across formats.
