
Goa were dismissed for 164 in their first innings on the opening day of the Cooch Behar Trophy Elite quarterfinal against Madhya Pradesh Under-19 cricket team, which commenced on Thursday at the GCA ground in Sanguem.
After winning the toss and opting to field, Madhya Pradesh Under-19 cricket team applied sustained pressure on Goa Under-19 cricket team throughout the day in the four-day knockout encounter. Goa were bowled out in 82.5 overs, with only a handful of batters offering resistance against a disciplined bowling attack.
The standout phase of Goa’s innings came through a fifth-wicket partnership worth 76 runs between Dishank Misquin and Aradhya Goyal. Misquin top-scored with a patient 44, while Goyal struck a composed half-century, scoring 50 with five boundaries. Opener Sarthak Bhike also contributed with a steady 31 at the top of the order.
For Madhya Pradesh, Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 3 for 34. He was well supported by Ayush Shukla and Prateek Shukla, who shared four wickets between them to keep Goa in check.
At the close of play on day one, Madhya Pradesh reached 12 for 1 in four overs, giving them a narrow advantage heading into the second day as the quarterfinal remained evenly balanced.
