
Goa asserted firm control on the opening day of the Cooch Behar Trophy Elite four-day match, bowling out Uttar Pradesh for 125 before reaching 142/3 at stumps on Monday at the Sanguem Cricket Ground.
Goa’s bowlers delivered a commanding performance, led by Mihir Kudalkar, who produced a devastating spell of 5/10 to dismantle the UP batting lineup. Chigurupati Venkata supported effectively with 3/32, while skipper Yash Kasvankar (1/25) and Shiven Borkar (1/15) added timely breakthroughs.
For Uttar Pradesh, Bhavi Sharma resisted with a fighting 61 off 84 balls, including six fours and a six. Anmol Nushran contributed 34, but UP suffered a dramatic collapse, slipping from 85/2 to 86/4 and losing wickets in quick succession.

Goa replied confidently, crossing UP’s total before stumps. After the early loss of Sarthak Bhike (10), Aditya Kota (48) and Shantanu Nevagi (28) built a steady 45-run partnership. Aditya then combined with captain Yash Kasvankar for a 67-run stand that pushed Goa into the lead. Yash remained unbeaten on a fluent 52 off 56 balls, hitting six boundaries and a six. At close, he was joined by Mihir Kudalkar (0*).
For UP, Yash and Aditya picked up a wicket each in the final session.
Goa will resume on Day Two aiming to extend their first-innings advantage to a three-figure lead and further tighten their grip on the match.
