
Goa’s Under-19 women’s cricket team endured a difficult end to their Elite Under-19 One-Day Trophy campaign, suffering a heavy 303-run loss to Uttarakhand on Sunday.
Batting first, Uttarakhand posted a commanding total of 348 for 8 in their allotted 50 overs. Openers Dhriti and Nirjala Mahra laid a strong foundation with a 121-run stand, with Dhriti top-scoring with 93 while Nirjala contributed 69. In the middle order, Kareena added momentum with a half-century, scoring 58. Uttarakhand were also aided by 30 extras conceded by the Goa bowlers.
For Goa, Nikhila Naik emerged as the standout performer with the ball, claiming 4 wickets for 75 runs from her 10 overs. Prachi Nikam supported her with 2 for 46, while Usma Khan and Vidhi Bhandare picked up one wicket each.
Chasing a daunting target of 349, Goa’s batting line-up collapsed, with the team bowled out for just 45 runs in 20.4 overs. Preeti Gaonkar and Shilpa Sharma were the only batters to reach double figures, scoring 10 runs each. Uttarakhand’s bowlers dominated, led by Vaishali with figures of 5 for 12, while Nandini took 3 for 7.
With five defeats from five matches, Goa concluded their campaign at the bottom of Group A.
