Oxford Cricket Club Goa registered a narrow 22-run victory over Aim Cricket Academy Sawantwadi ‘A’ in the final league match of the Late Rajan Bhai Angane Under-16 Memorial Cup cricket tournament, organised by Aim Cricket Academy Sawantwadi. The match, played at the Boarding Ground in Malvan, remained closely contested till the final overs.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Oxford CC built their innings steadily before accelerating in the middle phase. Yashraj Kalaskar (32) and Rehan Hubali (21) laid the foundation, while Barhaan Dash scored 68 off 46 balls to lift the scoring rate. Yug Yadav added 69 off 50 balls to maintain momentum.
Farhan Shaikh anchored the innings with an aggressive 101 off 60 deliveries, hitting seven fours and seven sixes, helping Oxford post 319 for 7 in 45 overs.
In reply, Aim Cricket Academy Sawantwadi ‘A’ began positively. Sahil Metri (29) and Sumedh Parab steadied the chase, with Parab scoring 105 off 99 balls. Contributions from Ganesh Gawade (32) and Fudail Aga (46) kept the contest alive, while Sanchit Gawade added a quick 19.
However, Oxford bowlers made crucial breakthroughs in the closing stages. Arnav Naik led the attack with figures of 4 for 51 in 8.5 overs. Harsh Nain took two wickets, while Mubarak Tadapatri, Abhisek Lamani, and Farhan Shaikh picked up one wicket each.
Aim Cricket Academy were eventually bowled out for 297 in 42.5 overs, handing Oxford a 22-run win. Farhan Shaikh was named Player of the Match. The two teams are set to meet again in the final on April 2.
