The Goa Cricket Association (GCA) on Tuesday initiated the relaying of the cricket ground at Porvorim, marking a key infrastructure move aimed at strengthening the state’s cricketing ecosystem.

The work is being carried out under the supervision of the Association’s Managing Committee, which said the initiative forms part of a broader push to improve facilities for players across Goa.

Present at the site were GCA President Mahesh Dessai, Secretary Tulshidas Shetye, Vice President Paresh Fadte, Treasurer Abdul Majid, along with committee members Mahesh Behki and Viraj Phadke.

Officials said the relaying of the pitch is expected to significantly upgrade playing conditions. The Association stated that the project would “provide a world-class pitch and improved infrastructure,” adding that it aims to ensure players have access to a safer and more professional training environment.
