Shree Damodar HS Clinch Salcete U-14 President’s Cup Title

Shree Damodar High School defeated Bhatikar High School by eight wickets in the final. Usman Ghani’s unbeaten 67 guided the successful chase.

Shree Damodar High School emerged champions of the Salcete zone in the Under-14 President’s Cup inter-school cricket tournament organised by the Goa Cricket Association, defeating Bhatikar High School by eight wickets in the final played at S.K. Ground, Molcornem, on Sunday.

Opting to bat first, Bhatikar High School put up a competitive total of 126 for 3 in their allotted 25 overs. Ayush Gaonkar anchored the innings with a well-made 60 off 51 deliveries, which included five boundaries and two sixes. Sanch Naik provided steady support, scoring a patient 50 off 80 balls to ensure the side posted a defendable total.

For Shree Damodar High School, skipper Rumaan Mulam led from the front with the ball, claiming two wickets for 30 runs in five overs. Affan Shaikh contributed with one wicket.

In reply, Shree Damodar High School chased down the target comfortably, reaching 129 for 2 in 21.2 overs. Usman Ghani remained unbeaten on 67 off 60 balls, striking eight fours and a six to guide his team to victory. Abhiyaan Naik added 24 runs, while captain Rumaan Mulam chipped in with 20.

For Bhatikar High School, Rehan Khan and Sanch Naik picked up a wicket each, but were unable to contain the opposition’s steady chase.
