Sinq Rangers registered a commanding 23-run victory over Desserts N More Avengers in the GSB Unity Cup 3.0, organised by the Goa GSB Sports & Charitable Trust. The floodlit encounter was played on Thursday at the MCC Ground in Margao.
After winning the toss, Sinq Rangers opted to bat first and posted a competitive 162 for 6 in 20 overs. The innings was anchored by a brisk half-century from Sairaj Dhond, who struck 50 off 25 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes. Mehank Dharwadkar provided strong support with an unbeaten 40 off 24 deliveries, hitting one four and three sixes to accelerate the scoring towards the end.
For the Avengers, Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar was the most effective bowler, finishing with two wickets.
In reply, Desserts N More Avengers struggled to build momentum while chasing 163. Captain Kaushal Hattangadi led from the front with a 46 off 28 balls, including three fours and two sixes. However, wickets at regular intervals and rising pressure from the required run rate prevented a steady chase. The Avengers closed at 139 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs.
The Rangers bowling unit maintained discipline throughout the innings. Nikhil Virginkar, Krishnakant Hegde Desai and Arin Angle picked up two wickets each, ensuring the target was never seriously threatened.
With this result, Sinq Rangers strengthened their position in the tournament and reinforced their status as strong contenders for the title.
Sairaj Dhond was named Desserts N More Player of the Match, while Arin Angle received the Kamat Realty Hero of the Match award. The honours were presented by Anup Kudchadkar and Pranav Biche.
